About this Collection

20 years ago, from the dusty floors of a small studio in East Vancouver, Sid Dickens first brought to life his unique vision in the form of a 6" x 8" block of plaster. Today, in sincere thanks for your years of support, we proudly present this re-imagining of some of Sid's classic early works, selected by the artist himself. This is a tribute to you; dear friends and dreamers.

This special limited-edition collection is an homage to some of Sid's most popular Memory Blocks, spanning in inspiration from his 1995 to 2001 collections. Each of these pieces have been reworked to reflect a more modern twist on enduring themes such as Home and Eternity. Prince and Princess are now available in either a bold black & gold, or a soft pastel & silver finish, to suit the special prince or princess in your life. The Coloured Pinnacles block receives a fresh retro-inspired pop of colour.

Het merk Sid Dickens werd in 1994 opgezet door de kunstenaar en ontwerper Sid Dickens. Sid is in de vroege jaren 90 opgeleid als beeldhouwer en onderscheidde zich al snel vanwege zijn productieve bloktegels.
Zo werkte en experimenteerde hij met een ongebruikelijke combinatie van materialen en technieken die uiteindelijk het handelsmerk van zijn kenmerkende stijl zijn geworden.

De originele ‘Memory Blocks’ zijn met de hand gemaakte wandtegels. Deze tegels zijn speciaal ontworpen om te verzamelen en mooie herinneringen samen te bundelen. Deze samengestelde tegels doen denken aan de oude merklap van vroeger, waar afbeeldingen op geborduurd werden passend bij de interesses van de bijbehorende familie. Die Marke Sid Dickens wurde 1994 von dem Künstler und Designer Sid Dickens gegründet. Sid wurde Anfang der 1990er Jahre zum Bildhauer ausgebildet und zeichnete sich schnell durch seine produktiven Blockfliesen aus.
Er arbeitete und experimentierte mit einer ungewöhnlichen Kombination von Materialien und Techniken, die schließlich zum Markenzeichen seines charakteristischen Stils wurde.

The Sid Dickens brand was founded in 1994 by the artist and designer Sid Dickens. Trained as a sculptor in the early 1990s, Sid quickly distinguished himself for his prolific block tiles.
He worked and experimented with an unusual combination of materials and techniques that eventually became the trademark of his signature style.

The original 'Memory Blocks' are handmade wall tiles. These tiles are specially designed to collect and bundle beautiful memories together. These composite tiles are reminiscent of the ancient sampler, on which images were embroidered to match the interests of the associated family.
